Six generations of Americans have been cooking their Thanksgiving turkeys and traditional hams and roasts in a Granite Ware roaster and for good reason - It cooks faster and more evenly than other roasters. The dark porcelain surface and steel core absorb the oven's energy and evenly distribute it to the contents. Each roasting pan and it's handles are designed to accommodate the weight of the ingredients - much safer than foil. And, Granite Ware roasters clean up easily - just fill it with warm water and a little soap and food particles will wipe clean. The construction is porcelain fired at 1500 degrees to the carbon steel core. The result is a roaster than heats rapidly, is easy to clean and has an inert glass surface that won't discolor or alter the taste of food . I received this roaster with both handles from the top piece hanging from the handles of the lower piece. The handles were tack welded on and easily came off in shipment. Why not rivet the handles to the roaster halves? Speaking of the roaster, the metal is thin and flexed the sides of the roaster when I picked up the bottom half by the handles. In addition, I found plenty of paint flakes in the box so the paint probably won't last long and will lead to rust. Too bad. Doesn't it seem like company executives stop thinking as consumers while they obsess on new ways of reducing the bottom line?

Wow, pan is so deep and large even our largest turkey would fit! Great finish for easy cleanup. This pan will be used over and over again during the holidays and during canning season. A family keeper for sure.
