They look very nice and are great for serving soups and stews. We pre-heat them in the oven for a while to help keep the soup hot when serving guests, but to avoid unpleasant surprises we do not pre-heat the lids ( Lodge Logic L5MIC3 Miniature Lid). Be careful with what you put under these kettles if you pre-heat them, though; placing them straight on a plastic tablecloth may be a bad idea. (We use coasters we make from boards the kids break at tae-kwon-do.)

As is usual with this cast iron stuff, wash them ASAP and put a thin coat of vegetable oil on them to keep the seasoning healthy and the rust away.
