This 15-ounce oval dish measures 7-1/2 by 5 inches and is sized perfectly for baking and serving single entrees or gratins, storing leftovers for one, or freezing individual meals for later. I have used these dishes to bake, store, and freeze individual portions since I first moved out on my own (yes, like many people, my first "grown-up investment" was a set of Corningware French White)... now that I am more settled (10+ years later), I bought more of these so that I can make and store good meals for my husband and I. The 15 oz size is perfect for a single portion of stew, lasagna, potpie, etc. My advice is buy 6. If you make a large pot of stew, you will have enough for 8 portions - eat two, freeze the other 6. It's not much. Even a can of prepared soup is 16 ounces. This is an individual serving size dish. I know they give you the dimensions...but they should call it a "single serving" dish or something, just to be clearer. If in doubt, get out a ruler and look at how small 7 x 5 inches is. - The lid could be a lot better: It would be nice if it was clear, or had a vent. As it is now, you have to position it carefully in the microwave so the dish does not "seal" while cooking (which will ruin it). Also, the lid kind of "dips down" into the dish - it should be the opposite - "domed" - so you can fit a bit more food in. The concave shape means that if you fill the dish to the top, some will squeeze out when you seal it. Thus making it...well, more like a 14-ounce dish! :-) - That being said, if all...
