Chef Craft 21522 1-Piece Stainless Steel Steamer Basket, 6-Inchgoodus

So far, it has been excellent.....even small enough to fit my 1.5 quart sauce pan. It appears to be quality constructed, and if it holds up, it will be an exceptional buy. The one I had before was a piece of junk...the leaves started falling out almost immediately, and kept doing so, even though I tried to tighten them with pliers!!

Years ago you could buy a steamer basket and use it for years and years. In the last decade though they have gotten worse and worse - falling apart after only a few uses. I tried most brands available to no avail. But finally this Chef Craft 21522 basket at Amazon has it worked out. They put a wider "hinge" on the "leaves" so there's not so much leverage on them as you open and close it. It works great and is holding up now perfectly. Highly recommended.

The steamer operates smoothly and with little effort. Nicely-sized to fit in smaller pans. Easy clean-up. Not for use in non-stick cookware. Durable but not indestructible.
