After 5 years, my Calphalon non-stick set (which was always just so so)was really getting worn and after cooking eggs last week and having most of them stick to the bottom of the pan, I knew I was ready to shop...I had no idea, though, that I would fall in love with a little green pan!! LOL! I searched Amazon and this green pan kept coming up in the search result, so I figured, okay, it has good reviews AND the added bonus of not adding chemicals to my food! When I received my pan, the first thing I noticed was it was sturdy, much more so than the picture illustrates. The next thing was the textured bottom inside the pan, and I thought, Uh Oh, this will grab my eggs and never release them!!!!! So of course I had to know so I rinsed the pan, dried and started heating up on the stove to cook scrambled eggs with NO OIL!! This is my first ceramic pan of this type.As noted by other reviewers, I have found INITIALLY the non-stick qualities of the pan to be outstanding, and out-of-the-box, the pan appears perfect, hence the INITIAL "5 star rating". The plastic handle can reportedly withstand oven temperatures (I've not tried this myself), everything seems solid, heating is fairly uniform, nothing sticks. However, I've noticed that some reviewers have had bad experiences where 1) the non-stick properties wear off, 2) residue collects on the cooking surface also causing food to stick, 3) the handle can loosen, 4) chipping of the cooking surface can occur. As these problems seem to be age related (that is, the more the pan is used the more common these conditions occur), I will update my review over time to address these issues primarily. If these, or other, problems occur, I will comment on what they are and adjust my rating accordingly. |
