I ordered 2 of the 2-liter Bormioli Fido glass jars for storage of dry goods in my kitchen and I am very pleased with them. The glass is very heavy and thick, so I am not worried about the jars chipping and potentially getting glass in my food. The lid is the same type of thick glass, with fairly sturdy metal clamps to lock it down. The rubber ring that came with it makes it airtight when used properly, which works great with keeping food fresh inside. Not sure how they would hold up with long term canning, but I wasn't going to use them for that anyway (I would recommend just standard mason jars which you can then boil to give an airtight seal if you plan on canning). I would definitely recommend these for everyday use, and I am going to order a few of the smaller ones for other things around my kitchen.

These jars are excellent for food storage in the pantry. I have purchased them in various sizes. The 4 liters are perfect for 5 pound bags of sugar, flour, etc. The best part is the openings are large enough to fit my measuring cups. I use the 2 liters for brown sugar, grains, pasta. Not the long pasta like fettuccine and spaghetti but it is perfect for macaroni, rotini, orzo, etc.
The glass is substantial. It seems like it can take a beating without breaking. The closure appears to be airtight thanks to the rubber ring they come with. They are supposed to be safe in the dishwasher, but you MUST remove the metal parts, which is not too difficult.
All in all, they are perfect for me.

I absolutely and positively LOVE these jars. So much so that I can see myself selling them! Oh my god! They are brilliant. They are a tight container, they don't turn color, the glass is a wonderful top notch quality, the seal is TIGHT and I mean tight. It keeps my green juices fresh for a few days. The whole thing just feels fabulous when I use it and carry it and I amin love with the Bormioli Fido jar, hands down the best jar I have owned. Glad I bought two!
